The progress of the 5 social renovation pilots (Brussels, Cork, Ghent, Lille and Rennes) was presented to regional and EU policymakers at a key conference organized on 1st April by Community Land Trust Ghent and hosted by the City of Ghent. This conference was part of the Interreg NWE funded “Upcycling Trust” project.

Thank you for speakers Filip Watteeuw, Matthew Baldwin, Sorcha Edwards and Keti Tskitishvili, who highlighted the transformative potential of Community Land Trusts and Organismes de Foncier Solidaire in enabling energy renovation of housing while providing homes that are permanently affordable.

An interesting discussion took place with Hilde Reynvoet,Waldo Galle, Ailbhe Cunningham and Gilles Guillaume centred around how cities can work together with innovative local initiatives to address the housing crisis and why circularity and community engagement are crucial for a lasting environmental and social impact of housing energy renovation.

Following the conference, the project partners from Belgium, France and Ireland worked together on the next steps of implementation during their annual Strategic Committee.
